Rev. Dr. Lynda Marie Jordan

At HDS, she also earned the Certificate in the Study of Science and Religion from the Boston Theological Institute and published the results of an ethnographic study in the article entitled Domestic Violence in the African American Community: The Role of the Black Church. Her Master of Divinity Senior Paper, Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities: Accessing the Power of the Holy Spirit for Healing, explores a theological strategy for addressing the wounds which stem from racism and other health inequities in our society. The subject of her Master of Public Health practicum, Development of a Program to Enhance the Spiritual and Mental Health Needs of Homeless Women at a Daytime Shelter, examines the role of spirituality in the lives of homeless women. Her commitment toward addressing the needs of the most vulnerable in our community is demonstrated in her current work of serving as a conduit between the church, the community, academia and the health care system. Her academic training and applied life experiences, in biological chemistry, theology and public health, triangularly positions her between these three fields, which gives her a rare and comprehensive perspective as to how these three components of human life intersect. In the Fall of 2006, she co-founded The Women’s Discipleship Class at Holy Temple United Holy Church of America, in Boston, Massachusetts, and in the Fall of 2009, she founded the Women of Vision Interdenominational Prayer and Bible Study Group, which serves people from Boston, surrounding areas, and around the country; it is vibrantly functioning today. The A Place to Heal Ministries, Incorporated church was established on December 5, 2010, in Cambridge, Massachusetts. A Place to Heal Ministries obtained its official 501c3 status as a church in June 2012. The major goals of the church are to provide a safe place where people can: (a) demonstrate and express God's unconditional love toward everyone, (b) address their individual spiritual, physical, and emotional requirements for wholeness, and (c) experience the support they need to actualize their holistic healing. Lynda’s long-term goal is to contribute toward eradicating the obscurities that exist in our society, which cause gaps in human dignity. She intentionally toils toward developing ways to interweave the different threads of community, academia, health care, and the church, so as to effectively address the daily life needs of the people. She possesses a stalwart faith and trust in God’s love and power, and is responsive to the necessity of integrating Christ-like principles and values into the development of solutions to the daily life problems of God’s people.
